How Much Confetti and Streamer will I need?

That depends on a few things: The size of the area and whether the event is indoors or outdoors (ballroom, theatre, arena), the type of dispersal unit (handheld unit, double-barrel electronically fired cannon, continuous flow cannon) and the overall effect desired (gentle sprinkle, blizzard, etc.).
What are the dimensions of your room? What are your ceiling heights? What is your desired coverage area and purpose? Are you attempting to create an eye-catching stage effect or an interactive blast over the entire audience? If the area to be covered is outdoors, how big is it? What type of confetti will you be using, tissue, PVC or Clean Free™
When it comes to the volume of confetti needed, aesthetics rule. It depends on how much confetti you want falling through the air for how long. "Single-blast" confetti cannons require less confetti than "continuous flow" cannons. Also, some confetti special effects require a light sprinkling of confetti (shapes such as petals or leaves) and some call for a blizzard (snow).
It is not easy to answer a question like, "I have a five thousand square foot ballroom, how many pounds will I need?" until after we have discussed the look you are going after. If you had a mid-sized ballroom and you were after a spectacular and elegant stage effect, we would probably recommend something like two Mini Blasters™ (continuous flow confetti cannons) and twenty-five pounds of a mix of white tissue and gold metallic stars.
As an alternative, if the ceiling height would permit, we might say, "Put four Big Shot® (double-barrel, single-blast confetti cannons) on the truss above your stage and four on the floor for a two-cue effect. The first cue would be a "fountain" shot in front of the stage quickly followed by the second cue of streamers breaking through the "fountain" and traveling 60 feet into the audience.
Why Streamers
Streamers add an extra punch to any celebration. When an event, production or ceremony calls for a visual exclamation point, streamers are the perfect punctuation! To launch streamers, we have two different methods: Big Shots® and handheld cannons.
Streamers also add a completely different looking visual element. When there are multiple cues in a production and a variety of different looks is critical, streamers are the solution. When combined with confetti, streamers can be especially dramatic.  First a "wall of confetti" is fired into the air, then streamers burst though the wall, creating an effect guaranteed to produce a chorus of oohs and aahs!
When a quick clean up is called for, streamers are easy to gather up. We have fired them off on the field in Super Bowl Pre-game Shows and had the field in pristine condition for kickoff only moments later.

Fun FACT; The Blueman Group in their show and seen on a TV commercial a signature piece of shooting confetti streamers from the stage to the over the audience. This is an amazing launch of streamers designed and put together by Artistry in Motion confetti manufacturer Each Blueman uses two grouping of 4 one inch cannons, That's 8 one inch cannon each seen below. The Black tubes band together in line with the arm.
